Sketchbook Project - Week 47

Just some quick notes today: I LOVE the color of persimmons.  I enjoy the contrast of black on creamy pastels.  Pink makes me happy, and I make a mark using every sketchbook medium.  I created quite a few pizza hoops, so I also made some very simplified pizzas in watercolor.  Blue swirls to kill time. Cookie cutter houses with a twist. I ate (and bought) a lot of popcorn over the weekend.

Enjoy!

Sketchbook Project - Week 46

My pages this week included more color play and ideas for future wool paintings.  The toucan will definitely be turned into a felted piece this week--I've been wanting to felt this bird for a long time, and what better time than craft show season?  The purple to sienna brown vertical column was an attempt to capture the color of the sunset and auburn leaves from that night. I was treated to a beautiful scene on a drive here in Arkansas that night, and though I didn't have time to capture details, capturing the overall colors was still satisfying. On Saturday, I taught a workshop in St. Louis, and on our 5.5 hour drive, we so SO MANY hawks, so I thought a messy tree with a hawk silhouette would be quite appropriate.  And then the last pages, the abstract botanical, was inspired by the shapes and colors that I've been attracted to lately.

Enjoy!

Sketchbook Project - Week 45

I started my 7th sketchbook in this project, tried out gold leaf, literally just scribbled on a page, and took a few cues from nature this week. Enjoy!

Upcoming Events!

I'm preparing for another workshop and a couple of seasonal craft shows, so here's a quick update on upcoming events.   I'm taking Good Natured Art to St. Louis for this first time, and teaching my "Painting with Wool" techniques.  I've teamed up with Abbey Eilermann of The Daily Disco, and she's hosting my workshop in her new studio space.  The workshop is from 1:00-3:30, and all details and registration can be found here.  Feel free to email me (hello@begoodnatured.com) if you have any questions.

I'm heading back to my old stomping grounds for the second year of Queen City Craft Show, and I'm so excited to hang out with my Springfield friends.  I'm working really hard to make as many original fiber art pieces as possible, but I'll also have prints, pins, and sticker packs.

I'm also really excited to join my new community of artists and makers in Northwest Arkansas for the inaugural holiday show, Wampus Wonderland from 10-6pm at the Washington County Fairgrounds. This show in Fayetteville is shaping up to be really fun, and I hope you'll come out to support these creatives if you're in my neck of the woods!

Sketchbook Project - Week 44

I've now filled SIX sketchbooks!  I love seeing all of them stacked together, and I love watching a blank sketchbook slowly transform into a vessel that contains little pieces of my daily life. With eight weeks to go, my goal is to plan the remaining sketches of the year to exactly fill one more book.

Enjoy these pages!  Catch up on the project here.
